My laptop’s power adapter was chewed up, I plugged it in without noticing and my laptop turned off immediately. I took it apart and found that this
was burnt compared to the other side.
That’s a new power adapter. Is there a way to fix this?
Hi, I don’t think that it is the problem. It is just the earth plane connector that connects the motherboard to the hinges and the lid. I’m suspecting that the faulty power adapter blew a power mosfet or something else in the power circuits on the motherboard. Here’s a composite image of the same place on both sides of the motherboard taken from a teardown video for the laptop. As you can see it appears to be almost the same as compared to your images.

(click on image to enlarge for better viewing) Try searching online for (insert motherboard board number) schematics to hopefully find the schematics for the motherboard so that the power input circuits can be traced and tested. The motherboard’s board number is printed on the motherboard itself
