Hi My laptop has a problem in that XP detects a graphics card problem after short running time and disables the installed graphics card, can it be repalced or is there another problem. re-instralling driver makes no difference. graphics card is a nvidia Geforce 8600M GS
Nvidia has had a lot of problems with the 8600 mobile graphic processors. Apple and Dell both have extended their warranty on affected laptops. you may want to check with the manufacture of that particular notebook. but the main board most likely needs replaced.
Try rolling back or reinstalling the drivers, if not, some programs (like catalyst for ati cards) can allow you to force the output display resolution.
