While playing on my machine I lost internet connection. I did the usual checks and there was no problem with any other equipment in the house connecting. I have rebooted and after that reset the system and nothing has worked. As I have reset the system I am now locked out of the machine altogether as the machine needs to connect to the internet during initial set up. I now get a message saying there is a hardware failure. I have repaired DS’s PS3’s etc. and so quite willing to open her up but looking for some guidance. Is this likely to be a WIFI board failure? From the teardown here I see the WIFI board is connected to the RF board, is it that that may have failed? If it could be either is there a test I can do? Finally I have check out eBay and none of these parts are available there so any ideas where they can be purchased? Any and all help gratefully received. Many thanks Dan

Well, had this network problem where my xbox though i was plugged and there was no signal no internet … i guess the wifi automatically turns off when it thinks its wired …. Microsoft will tell you to send it so they can take about 150$ away from you … I fixed the problem on my own… curiously, it interprets certain hdmi cable as ethernet … i don’t know why, And it’s still a theory …. but my wifi comes back with no problem every times i start my xbox without hdmi plugged in …. then I plug it in, and voila … everything is working great again!

I know this post is kind of old but all you have to do is unplug it from the wall for about 30 secs..plug it back up and it’ll be working

Hi I am having the exact same problem and would love to know a fix?

Ok I have tried and a different test and working WiFi Board which made no difference (wasted £30.00). I have tried a working RF Board and still no solution. I am next going to reflow the Realtek RTL 8151GNM Ethernet Controller chip - wish me luck :/

What’s reflow? I opened my system and my wifi card was bend and a tiny piece from the corner snapped off… Would that affect the wired Ethernet connection as well since I can’t get internet either thru wifi or Ethernet

Dan im so glad that you posted this due to Im currently having the same issue right now as we speak and wanted more information as far as can this be done by anyone or will i be better off going to a computer repair store or geek squad? Rell

Well I had this problem but I fixed it. What I did was I ordered from ebay the wireless/bluetooth card and i changed it by my self and it worked. Check on youtube how to open your xbox and stuff. I have couple notes here

  1. Opening your xbox will ruin your warranty just incase you didn’t know.
  2. You’ll need a security screw driver. But maybe you can help your self with a flat screwdriver. I read that some people did it.
  3. I ordered the wifi/bluetooth CARD not the antenna.

I think the hardware problem is just a pile of poop. I went to game shop 4 times and said they can’t do anything’ I have insurance’ then I ask them to check and it works fine so I tested it at my house and it’s crap. I plugged in a ithernet cable and tried it it was fine. Then the controller disconnected and then I thought grate so what I done is recorded everything and going to show them tomorrow….. ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE

None of you’re solutions worked.

None of your solutions worked

Make sure you’re using the HDMI cable that came with the xbox one s. Some hdmi cables confuse the wifi network card into thinking that a hard lined ethernet connection is active, when it clearly is not.

You need a new internet board
