anytime you google something you get the simple answer but my problem isn’t they always talk about the extrnal power supply. my xbox one broke a year ago, my pc had issues that made it un usable at the time so i decied to bring out my xbox one to play some games. i plugged everything in and turned it on, it didn’t even get past the logo screen before turning off. ofc i assume it was the power supply so i get my dad’s power supply he had just bought a series s and had no need for it. i plugged it in and my xbox still didn’t turn back on. i assume there was some power surge and the internal power supply was damaged? is this true could other parts have also been damaged, should i even try buying a new power supply

You have to replace the power supply first. Follow the steps from here: Xbox Series X Power Supply Replacement
