On my Sony Bravia kdl-55w805c I have a issue with horizontal lines and double images. It is only there part of the time and then goes away an the picture is clear again: How can I repair this ? Should I change the TCON board ?
Update (03/08/2020) Thank you very much for the answer. When i get a error in the Self Check menu that has numbers next to FRCTC_I2C - that in my understanding relate to the TCON Board would you then proceed to change the TCON Board???
Update (03/20/2020) Have changed the TCON Board Dont have any distortion but think a update has gone wrong: can only get black or white screen. can see the volaume up/down, and initiation of Self diagnosis screen
Update (03/07/2020) I am not able to start he self diagnostic screen as it shows that it is starting and then goes to black screen:
Perhaps a software update gone wrong…. Can I force the upgrade again ?
Hi @hlynge Here’s a link to the service manual for the TV. (after clicking on Go to Download beneath the Document preview box, be patient for the Download link to appear when it says This file is downloadable free of charge (5/day): …processing… as it takes a little time to find the file). Once you have the file, scroll to p.11-12 to view how to enter the Self Diagnostic Screen Display and check what it says. Usually horizontal lines aren’t caused by the TCON board that is more a vertical lines problem. Horizontal lines are usually caused by faulty screen driver boards
