Ooof. Looks like what is probably the PCH has seen better days. Definitely seems like there was some sort of damage that occurred here. I would try and clean up the thermal paste here with some isopropyl alcohol so you’ll have a better look at things. But it very much looks to me like a burn hole in that chip. Typically the top of those is very silver and shiny, and it looks off color here, like it was subject to a lot of heat. I can’t say exactly what happened. But if that is damage (and I think it is), you’re going to need at the minimum a new system board to fix this. Screen may be fine. Or maybe not, depends on what happened. Were you sure to unplug the battery while you were replacing the screen?
Good afternoon Lucas, This could be due to multiple things,: Connections aren’t rightVoltages/current from charger is too lowSomething shorted out and caused something else to fry. To help I’ll answer your questions one by one: Before i go any further I am not a professional repair technician however these are some good pieces of advice in my opinion. Hopefully someone else more experienced will be able to take this further: That strange noise, was that a kind of static noise or some kind of pop? This could be multiple things like the hard driveDid you check with the old screen back on the device before discarding it?If the battery has to be removed for the LED to come on then something is consuming too much voltage (PLS help someone lol)You might think it is the new screen but did youGround yourself with an Anti static wrist strap?Check all the connections and ensure there was no power to the board during the repair?Unplug all connections and plug one by one back in until it stops (If it has life doing that)Loud pop…GPU Area? and then splattering of the thermal paste. Did you check if there is (not) a hole in the board where it has all shorted togetherUnfortunately it might be best to buy a new laptop as this is a bit much. I have a broken 27" 2010 imac which has something unknown wrong with it that I am just unable to find. Wish you best of luck :)
