i found a hasbro monty rex dinosaur at a thrift store, cleaned the battery connections, and it worked for a day. i left it over the weekend, and today it did not work, so i changed the batteries. it still does not work. any suggestions?

you will need to remove the battery holder. The acid can eat the wires. especially if you used water as that actually can activate acid. a quick resoldering of the holder should be all you need.
