My Xbox won’t connect to Xbox live even when I plug in a Ethernet cable. The top (USB Port) works, but the bottom (Internet port) doesn’t work. Help!?

There are a couple things that could be causing this problem. First check your ethernet cable, it may just be defective or the wrong type of cable (eg: a crossover cable). Try using it on another device or just using a different cable to verify that it isn’t the problem. If the ethernet cable is okay and the console still won’t connect, look at the ethernet port on the console. Check for bent contacts or other visible damage. If the connector looks okay, please tell me a little more about the console and when you started having the issue so I can try and figure out the source of it. Good luck!
