Hi I replaced the battery and the unit won’t turn on - the little battery LED on the logic board lights (and blinks when I do the SMC reset) but that’s about all that happens. Any ideas much appreciated.

Try this: To get a spontaneous reboot, disconnect the mag-safe adapter, unplug the battery. Press and hold the power on button for 10 seconds. Reconnect the battery and mag-safe and it should start up on its own. UPDATE See step# 5 of this guide. The thing that says on it “Battery Disconnect”. Yes I know it only has a USB C connector, unplug the one supplying power!

@arbt Do you still have the original battery? If so let’s plug that one back in and see if this behavior continues. I have a hunch that it is a defective battery…

Please check to make sure it is seated all the way. If so then unplug the battery and then make sure nothing like a piece of plastic from shipping is covering the pins. Typically when something doesn’t charge that’s new it leads towards a poor connection to the motherboard. Especially if it detects it.

Did it work with the previous battery and you replaced it for other reasons? You could buy another battery hoping that will fix it but if you bought it off amazon I would think it would be working. Maybe when putting it in you messed up another component or possible even caused static to mess up something else
