my 3gs won’t boot/startup to the home screen itunes picks it up shows capacity etc etc After holding down the power + home button, i tired restoring it seemed to work but rebooted then was stuck on apple logo then showed red battery with lighting bolt then shows apple logo again. It does not seem to be taking or holding charge I tested what google told me was the battery fuse for continuity and also the two charging fuses and they are not blown. Tried restarting computer with iphone plugged in, plugging iphone in while holding home button, holding my tounge the right way etc The phone is completely stripped down at the moment. How can i charge the battery by itself (battery out of phone) can i just cut a usb cord and put the power straight onto the battery terminals?
This is only the problem. Battery is damaged. you just change the battery . if will sure work properly. donot cut the power cord like this mad things. see the steps : iPhone 3GS Battery Replacement
try to restore your phone: plug in the usb to your computer and open itunes. Then press the home key and the “sleep wake key” at the same time for 10 seconds. Then let go the the “sleep wake key” while still pressing on the home key for an additional ten more seconds. A note will pop up on the itune screen asking if you want to reset.
Do this Charge Your Phone or replace the battery Turn off the phone hold sleep and home when its off hold the home button and connect it to the computer FIRST the usb in the computer then the phone with holding home it will boot into recovery Restore if jailbreaked use custum firmware Hope this helps
I am having the same issue with an iPhone 5. I can put it into recovery mode, but it fails every time. Did anyone ever find a definitive answer to this?
