The title of this inquiry is confusing to me because I have not been able to figure out if you don’t have an option to install OSX from the Internet as in the illustration on this page: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204904 or if it’s your own hard drive that doesn’t show up as a drive upon which to install OSX. If you follow these steps: How to fix Macintosh HD not mounted in Disk Utility? Most of the time the ssd cable of macbook gets broken or gets disconnected after a rough use of it so when the ssd cable either disconnects or gets broken the flashing file appears on screen. To check this issue you have to press command+R , a menu will appear on screen and when you click on disk utility there will be a disk named mac os base system in which there we wont able to click on any of the options given so from that point we know that there is a problem with our ssd cable. This happens because the ssd controls all the system management and mac os system so when the cable wont read the ssd then how a mac os will install and how it can be erase/repartition and repair itself. I hope you liked my answer to the problem
