I replaced a cracked glass on my Ipod touch 3rd g. I bought frame glass and digitizer( probably too cheap), easy to replace after watching videos, it’s not working and I tried testing if I accidentaly damaged the LCD and my question is this: does the LCD supposed to work without top glass and digitizer or will not respond without them???

sotiriob, you say in your question “does the LCD supposed to work without top glass and digitizer or will not respond without them???” and Carpenter940 is absolutely right, you will/should see everything, but your touch will NOT work unless your have the digitizer connected. Touching the LCD without the digitizer will not do anything.

LCD will work without digitizer. You should see something.

yes, but you may have to restore the ipod afterwards if you actually boot it with the digitizer off. this knowledge unfortunately is from personal experience by accidentally turning my ipod on while cleaning the dust from between the screen and digitizer, i had no slider on lockscreen and when i put the digitizer back on (after figuring out how to turn it back off) the screen was responsive but the ipod would take an extremely long time to do the simplest of tasks (like 20secs to unlock) i restored it and it was fine after that but was a pain in the butt for something as simple as booting it without a digitizer connected

Your iPod probably won’t work unless you have the digitizer or the faceplate on. If the faceplate cracked or broke, you still have the digitzer which can control the touch screen, but your iPod’s screen will no longer be protected because the faceplate was the outer protection of the screen. But your iPod will still work. Now if the digitizer and the faceplate broke, now you need to panic. but you can always go to an Apple store and they might repair it for you. Don’t worry, as long as you have your digitizer, your okay. :)
