I dropped my iPhone XS. The screen is not shattered but stays black, making the phone inoperative. Putting the left side switch to silent causes a vibration so the phone appears to be on and the battery is not dead. Do I need to replace the screen or is something jarred loose inside which makes the screen inoperative? If I replace the screen, will my problem likely be solved?

It sounds like the issue is that the LCD stopped working. A new screen should fix the issue. If not then it would probably be an issue with the GPU on the board.
