Chosen Solution

Years ago my wife spilt a cocktail on her Macbook Air. She had some issues with her spacebar. Apple cleaned the inside and improved the issue quite a bit. There is still a key that is a little sticky Recently she has a dead zone on your trackpad. Apple took a look and said there was liquid damage. They said it was a dark liquid. She hasn’t spilt anything since the cocktail years ago but her computer has been left unattended in her office. They quoted her ~$750. In any case, will replacing the trackpad solve the issue? If so, why wouldn’t Apple offer to do that? A $750 repair must include the motherboard I would expect.

How much did the Apple person who told you this weigh and how far can you throw him? Don’t go back, find an independent Mac repairman on Google with good reviews and go there. Your problem is most likely a swollen battery.
