Even though i have played a dvd that it was played before, it will just continue to say disc error. I think (actually i am almost positive) i have to clean the laser lens from the research i have done online. I wanted to know if there is a way to clean it without having to buy that software
Hi @ariasatlas , Just verifying that you have tried other known working DVDs and they didn’t work either? If so, software doesn’t clean the lens. You need to physically clean the lens You have two options: a) Purchase a DVD lens cleaning disc (example only) and use it to clean the lens. Just search online for other suppliers that may suit you better. b) Use the ifixit MAGNAVOX MDV2300 Motherboard Replacement guide to open the player to gain access to the lens and gently clean it with a Q-Tip moistened with Isopropyl Alcohol 90%+ (available from most electronics parts stores).
Sure, before you buy any cleaning products, try your existing tools: · Eyeglass cleaner. · A mild dish soap. · Isopropyl alcohol/rubbing alcohol and water. · Window cleaner such as Windex. · White vinegar.
