Hi, I plugged my MacBook into a friends aftermarket power supply, and when i returned home there is no light when plugging it onto a real magsafe charger. Tried using a different charger, resetting SMC. Also if I plug the magsafe into a different mac and then into mine, the light is orange but slowly goes dimmer until it goes out, and doesn’t charge the mac.
I was having that problem. I had several after market power supplies an very slowly my MacBook Pro stopped charging. I would wiggle the MagSafe a little and the amber light would come on the start charging but it got worse and finally I decided to change out the upper case. I SO didn’t want to pull my Mac apart but I finally did. Do you know what fixed the issue?? A half hour replacement of the MagSafe DC in Board part. I bought a used one off of Ebay for $8 and used the iFixit Guide and it was all better. The amber light came back on with ALL the after market power supplies I owned. I was SO thankful. Try it.
