Hey, i was taking a look at a phone for someone who said it wont charge or turn on. When plugged in a lighting bolt in a circle appears but no battery percentage. i took apart the phone and disconnected the battery then plugged in the charger and same thing Lighting bolt in a circle with no battery percentage Does this mean the battery is the problem? The device in theory should boot without one while plugged in like a laptop. Would this mean the issue is software and not hardware since the charging port is working.
Austin Sidman this “ i took apart the phone and disconnected the battery then plugged in the charger and same thing. Lighting bolt in a circle with no battery percentage” makes the battery the prime suspect. Replace the battery then re-evaluate. There are multiple other board level hardware issues that could cause this but start in an orderly fashion so as to not try to change/repair parts that don’t need to be replaced/fixed. It could be software related, but to me it rather sounds like a problem with the part of the circuit that charges the phone (or the battery itself). It is with some phones possible to boot without a battery depending on the amount of power the phone consumes, and the chargers ability to provide this power.
