My 1999 Sentra GXE with 150000 good miles is starting to have shifting issues. Stubborn up shift from second to high and a “hard” shift from low to second. The transmission fluid has never been changed. If it is done now, do you think it will help prolong the transmission, maybe solve the problem?

Hi, As it has never been changed, it certainly won’t hurt the transmission by changing the fluid with the correct replacement fluid, (see 2nd image for details). If there are any metal flecks floating in it they will only cause more damage as time goes by not less. According to the maintenance schedule from the owners manual for your vehicle the automatic transmission fluid should be inspected every 15,000 miles and changed every 30,000 miles (or 2 years) if towing a trailer, using a camper, using a car top carrier or driving on rough or muddy roads. Here’s an image taken from the owners guide that details this
