This is a lie! I just put an iPhone 5 home button flex in an iPhone 5c and it works perfectly….
They are compatible. done it myself with no issues
The home button itself and its gasket is the same size between the 5 and 5c as far as I can tell, as I have both in front of me now and just swapped them no problem. There is one minor difference in the black button as the button on the 5 has a black ring surrounding the metal dot on the back and the 5c has a white ring, which makes the square on the front of the button to appear whiter than on the 5, which appears dark. The flex cables with the button attached are definitely different though.
