Will a 8mb cache HDD work to replace the 32mb cache HDD the One S usually ships with, or should I get a 32 mb cache HDD ?

Any size cache will “work” 8 mb just wont perform even nearly as well as a 32 mb cache. Go for the 32 otherwise your experience on the console going forward will be awful.
