i have a iPad 2 wifi 16gb model. The wifi is very weak, 1 bar, but if i move it right next to the router then i get 4 bar, if i move it just 10 cm away from router then its 1bar again. I have removed the wifi board and replaced it with a known good board but it is still the same. I have replaced the wifi cable/antenna but no go. It is not a software problem, it is not a router problem, it is a hardware problem on the logic board but am lost as to where to look next, i have removed all the covers and checked under a microscope but cant find any corrosion or damage anywhere. I have repaired many iPads but this one has got me flummoxed and electronics is not my forte so at this point i am truly discombobulated. If ever i needed an “oldturkey03” at christmas its now.
Hello world..! i have finally a solution for the weak wifi signal for the iPad 2, i have the same problems over and over again, after replacing the digitizer or lcd, you kill het wifi antenna (stupid construction) this is only a solution for the people that taking there logic board out! so not the wifi/bluetooth card first of all: your iPad 2 is a big aluminum antenna, the problem is your logic board, when you want to get this out for replacing the antenna you need alot of force to get i out because it’’s a little glued in the middle! (near by the battery connector) what happens is that you bent your logic board a little bit! there is a copper sticker on the backside of the logic board, that sticker is normally pushing again the aluminum body of you iPad 2 (grousing) when you bent to much the sticker is not pushing against the frame anymore so you don’t have circle or connection! that is why you a have low or weak signal! easy fix: just put something under the 2 srew’s and metal plate that hold the logic board down (piece of paper or something else) and add more force! thats it..! happy repairing and cheer.. other questions? feel free to ask!
Use this portable repeater. Just plug it in the wall. It’s that simple : https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B013WAI7RM
I would love to hear more as i have the same problem, except I have not taken my iPad 2 apart so not sure why this is has happened all of a sudden. thanks,
Try using an iOpener (iOpener) to open the iPad using this guide (iPad 2 Wi-Fi EMC 2415 Front Panel Replacement), then remounting the small antenna using this guide (iPad 2 Wi-Fi EMC 2415 Bluetooth/Wi-Fi Antenna Replacement). What I suspect is happening is that the iPad is having to rely on the chip itself for a signal, rather than having the chip and antenna work together.
Hello everyone. I just recently had this issue. Easy fix. Replace the Wi-Fi/Bluetooth module. Should get a strong signal after replacement! It’s the board that you connect the Wi-Fi Antenna to.
Hi guys, As I after years I was fixing my old Ipad2 (broken screen replacement) and after that I faced same issue you described here and I finally fixed it somehow, I put below my case - I hope someone will benefit from it. In my case after putting everything together wifi wasn’t able to detect my wifi net. It worked only if I put ipad very close to the router. I went through antenna replacement and antenna cable contecting once more to mother board - nothing helped. As I was sure everything is fine I started playing with antenna - I screwed it off and found out that when I made it not touching any pary of the I pad it was worki g perfect, but when I was putting it to the right place the wifi signal was lowering to the minimum. Probably there was some break in the elctric isolation tha occured during screen replacement. I am not elecric guy so finally I found that nothing wrong hapens when I unattached it and put in the empty space on the left. Please see screen attached. I know this is terrible from professional point of view but the truth is it works. And if this the only possible way to have wifi in my Ipad I leave it this way and… itit works perfect for me :). I hope it will also for you in your Ipad wifi case.
