HI guys, Kind of a unique case here. Working on a laptop where the wifi board is having issues (usb also doesn’t work - there was a spill). The rest of the laptop works fine and the user has the password to their icloud but doesn’t have the password to login to the computer. When we try to reset it, we need wifi so it can contact the icloud servers and that’s not working. Any other way we can reset the login password online instead of from recovery mode?
Good afternoon! I have run into that with a customer MacBook recently. I essentially tricked the computer by using terminal and removing the “applesetupdone” file to make the laptop start up in setup mode. That will allow you to create a new user (make sure it is admin) and then use that user to reset the password for the needed user.
