Everytime I put in a new disc it sounds like there is something in the optical drive or possibly another disc as my toddler loves to help out! Sounds like a grinding noise while trying to read but only senses the disc that had just been put in. Also is it worth trying to repair the drive or just replace it and transfer the motherboard?
We’ll if you are considering replacing the drive you may as well take the one you have apart right? Right! The disassembly is quite straight forward however I had a drive myself for a long time that would take the disc in but failed to eject, when I looked at it closely I found one side of the other casing of the drive was not sitting correctly. I would suggest taking pictures as you take it apart, if you choose to do so. There are also many video tutorials online if you need more instruction.
It is unlikely that there is another disk present before you attempt to insert another as there are status “switches” which should prevent this. If the switches are defective, it is possible however. If you can open up the unit and take a look at the DVD drive and post a picture here, it would help. I have the original PS4 idk what model it’s called but it’s the one with the blue light along the top of the console and the light for the eject disc section no buttons..it’s the first one that came out I believe. Mine never dropped it hasn’t moved since I got it and I always play downloaded games not really discs so idk why this is happening but when I go to play any discs now it said can’t read disc and there is a noise where it sounds jammed..I am terrified to attempt to open it up idk anything about this stuff I will not know how to close it and idk what is even be looking for to fix..idk if it’s a simple fix or it has to be replaced..I don’t see any screwed anywhere at all on the outer console on mine so idk how to even get the cover off without breaking it.helo idk where to go to fix it I don’t have money for this I am so sad about this happening I’m clueless.videos show screws I don’t see any to take cover off.
