A few years ago, I got bad water damage on my computer. This month, i ordered and replaced the battery and logic board and it started up and works perfect. Only issue is that the trackpad won’t register the physical click. I can move the mouse using the track pad and I can also click with a light tap, but the mechanical click doesn’t seem to register. This quickly because an issue since i couldn’t drag and drop without a usb mouse. Any ideas?
Here’s what I have done to my old unibody MacBook that has a similar trackpad mechanism to yours.
- Turn off your Mac.
- Run a razor blade around the straights of the trackpad, it’s not necessary to run it around the curves. Don’t press too hard or you can damage the blade and/or the trackpad.
- Run the blade around the trackpad again.
- Turn back on your Mac and see if you can register a click.
