Tapes will record but will not play back. Just blue screen.
Humidity can cause this problem. Remove the battery and keep the cassette open for a while to dry off. While in my case I gave it a hard hit while the tape was playing and the tape played wonderfully. Funny, yeah! But it worked. For some users, head cleaner also works to remedy this problem.
