My PS3 won’t stay on. I was playing assassins creed 2 & it froze. I turned it off & turned it on again but now it won’t boot up properly. I tried the reset by holding it down for 10 seconds but instead of the beeps I’m supposed to get, it just powers off & if I leave it on without holding down power button, it turns off after about 30 seconds
This type of behavior is usually caused (at least initially) by heat. After a while, the heat compound on the CPU breaks down and is not able to transfer the heat from the CPU to the heatsink properly. This leads ultimately to overheating. Once this happens, all bets are off. Most likely, the CPU overheats right away which is why the system shuts down. Start by replacing the heatsink compound and to run the system again. I believe that it may be a power-supply problem, which causes it to lose power after a few seconds when the HDD activates.
