Usually pressing and holding the wheel at the bottom arrow for a few seconds shuts off the device. Mine will not shut off. What can I do?
Depending on how old the device is you may need to do a full restore to eliminate possible logic errors. For a possible quick fix do a hard reset. Do a Hard Reset:
- Toggle the Hold switch on and off. (Slide it to Hold, then turn it off again.)
- Press and hold the Menu and Center (Select) buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears, about 6 to 8 seconds. You may need to repeat this step. Here is a forum with the same issue as yours, apparently this is an abundant issue in nanos. MacForum: http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.p… Good Luck! -Varsity
press the top (menu button) to go back at the menu, then try. It happened to me (frequently) and it is annoying - but then suddenly it worked again. AND - just make sure the ’lock’ is not on (switch the switch a few times, in case there is dirt or corrosion) toggle it
