My iMac will come on with the Apple logo a spinning wheel and a loading bar. The bar takes around 30 minutes to fill and once it finally finishes the wheel keeps spinning for a couple seconds and then the whole thing shuts down and I have to start again. What do I do? Also when I was trying to work on it I accidentally screwed up something and now the lcd has a red/pink color. Any idea what that could be? edit: Apple told me the first problem is a hardware problem but I’m not sure what the problem is because I haven’t been able to run diagnostic and I can’t install Mac OS on a new hdd. I think the cd drive might be bad not sure tho.
It does sound like your drive is failing but the display having a red/pink color worries me as that would be a failing GPU and in this series the NVIDIA GeForce 9400M GPU is soldered to the logic board.
