Hi, I just got this brand new red Xbox one controller yesterday and I just tried to plug in some headphones. I would get no sound coming from them at all and when I tried them on another controller they worked fine so i know the headphones aren’t the problem. This is the second time a headphone jack hasn’t worked for me and I have to keep a separate controller on to use headphones, I got a new controller hoping the headphone jack would work but it doesn’t.
the auxiliary jack is loose from the board, Xbox made the controllers out of cheap plastic, so unless you know soldering , take it to a repair shop and tell them the problem
