I have put new batteries in and checked they are the right way round. When I press the power switch the camera status lamp on the back flashes green but nothing else hapens. As soon as I take my finger of the power button the flashing stops even if I hold the power button down for several seconds (approx 20).
Helen Smith, check your lens. Make sure it is properly retracted. Check the clearance of the lens against the housing. It should be equal all the way around. The camera will shut off if the lens does not extend or retract. If that looks okay, make sure that you battery connectors are not corroded and the the door contact touches both batteries. If that is okay, you may have to take it apart and take a look at the individual components. It is possible that your DC-DC IC has issues
