My pS5 shutdown the other night during a game session. Would not start up again. One beep from either power or eject button now. Pull it apart and am reading 11volt out of power supply. Needs 12 so I assume this is enough to cause the no start. Any idea what might cause this small drop in voltage? Have checked with two meters.
Usually electrolytic capacitors going leaky causes all sorts of different voltages… sometimes zero. This is shunted and not the “series” type situation I think you’re looking for. You can run measurements with an in-circuit ESR meter, but they’re cheap enough to just replace anyway, starting with those nearest to the output. Once you find one, it’s worth doing the lot.
