Using a different power supply would not hurt anything, but possibly the power supply. If the power supply’s output current is rated too low, then it could overheat and kill the power supply. It can’t have two high of a current rating, because a battery only draws what current it needs....

Chosen Solution the claw will go up and down and open and go back and forth, but not left to right. there are no wires that are cut anywhere. @gambit2115 I suggest that you take a look at the stepper motor on top of the claw itself. Check this guide The Claw “Claw” Replacement and remove the cover from the mechanism the drives the sled. Take a good look at the wiring and with a multimeter see if the motor gets power when you move the controller....

Changing batteries have given me the results of a black screen or a caution sign inside the “charging battery” animation upon start up. Chosen Solution Technically Apple does not support Catania on these older systems. While there are tools to allow it, it really doesn’t make sense if you only have 8GB of RAM on the system and have a HDD as your primary drive. Changing out the GPU board to one that can support Metal is not trivial! Apple uses a custom version of board which has its own firmware. So you will need to reprogram the boards firmware to allow a non-Apple GPU board to work and depending on which on you may loose functionality like brightness adjustment or Startup Manager or other startup commands....

It can fail on the charger part but will still allow your phone to be recognized....

Because the device is overheating, it is very likely that the fan on the device is broken or possibly too dusty to function. Sometimes, using the laptop on soft surfaces, can block the air path to the fan and cause the computer to over heat....
